GENERAL DATA PROTECTION REGULATION – CONSENT DECLARATION
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which came into force in 2018, we are required, like all other organisations, to gain your consent to our holding and processing your personal data. We need to gain your explicit consent and so it is not enough for us just to assume that because you have not said otherwise, you consent. If we do not receive your consent (see below) then it will not be lawful to hold your personal data and so we cannot communicate with you.
We are also required to send you the following data protection notice:
DATA PROTECTION NOTICE.
Why we hold data about you:
- To maintain a list of members so that we can send out details of our meetings and other events such as occasional conferences where we are involved.
- To maintain records of subscriptions paid and any donations made by members.
- To enable us to claim gift aid on a member’s subscription or donation where appropriate.
The data we hold about you:
Your name, address and, where you have given it to us, your email address and/or telephone number.
How it is held
All data is stored securely by the Secretary and Treasurer of the Worcestershire Medico-Legal Society (WMLS) on PC files which are password protected or held on a secure online storage location.
Data is accessible by other officers of the WMLS where there is a legitimate need for this.
Data held about you is deleted at most one year after the renewal date has passed for your subscription.
Data is not shared with any other organisation. If the necessity to do this arises in the future then the consent of each member will be obtained.
You may withdraw consent to the WMLS holding any data about you at any time.
If you have any queries, please contact Dr Lesley Ann Smallman, Secretary and Treasurer of the WMLS.
